"Podcasting" is really just a term coined to describe online technology used to easily deliver rich media to you.
No, not really. Any software that plays MP3 files such as iTunes will suffice.
But it does help to have an iPod or any other portable MP3-player in hand if you want to listen to your favorite podcast while you're "on-the-go".
Most websites serving "Podcast" pages work fine with any modern internet browser. (Opera, Firefox, Safari, etc)
But to really maximize the best of podcasting technology -- such as having the ability to "subscribe" and automatically download the latest media files from your favorite
podcast websites, we highly recommend downloading the latest version of iTunes.
And if you aren't much of an iTunes fan, you can always download and install these other freely available software:
